Shooting with your kids can be a bonding experience also. Your child will remember many of the first lessons you teach them, whether it's firearms safety or teaching them how to shoot their first youth rifle, so don't cut any corners. Three easily remembered rules to practice over and over with kids is to keep the safety on, finger off the trigger, muzzle up, or pointing at the ground until they are ready to fire. Iron sights are a good way to start your child, then move them up to a scope or laser sight. Make up your own targets or buy some paper ones, and get your child to practice before deciding to join a club or league.
